Eco-friendly POM
”Iupital™ EF series”
Global Polyacetal Co., Ltd. (GPAC) plans to supply eco-friendly polyacetal resin (POM resin) products in collaboration with its parent company, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC), one of the world's leading methanol producers. Methanol is an essential material for modern life, used in a wide variety of end products, including POM resin, plastics, synthetic fibers, and adhesives. While most methanol is currently produced from fossil fuels such as natural gas and coal, it can also be produced from CO₂, biomass resources, and waste plastics.
We plan to supply the eco-friendly POM Iupital™ EF series, which utilizes MGC's Carbopath™ recycling platform, which leverages its methanol synthesis technology and manufacturing know-how, which utilizes high-performance catalysts cultivated over many years.
Characteristic of EF series
EF Series is an eco-friendly polyacetal manufactured using sustainable raw materials instead of natural gas, based on MGC's Carbopath™ environmental recycling platform. Using biomass and CO2 as raw materials is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 60% for POM resin. This technology can be applied to unreinforced standard grades as well as compound grades, and delivers the same performance as conventional products.
We allocate and supply certified raw materials to the EF Series in accordance with the ISCC PLUS certification mass balance approach. The mass balance approach allows for the mixed use of ISCC PLUS certified and non-certified raw materials, and we supply certified POM resin in proportion to the amount of certified raw materials procured.
